A total of 16,189 babies were born in Armenia in the first half of 2018, according to the latest figures released by the State Statistical Committee. Of them, 7,648 are girls and 8,541 – boys, the committee said.
In the reporting period, Nare topped the most popular girl names list, followed by Maria, Mari, Mane, Elen, Ahanit, Mariam, Angelina, Eva and Ani.
The most popular baby names for boys are Davit, Narek, Mark, Tigran, Alex, Hayk, Artur, Gor and Aren.
Armenia’s least popular baby names in the first six months of 2018 were Ruzanna, Emily, Karine, Astghik, Lia, Gohar and Lika for girls and Henry, Alexander, Grigor, Albert, Edgar, Garik and Edward for boys.
