Clergy Conference: Preparing for the 90th Anniversary of the Western Diocese

This year’s fourth and last clergy conference was held at the Western Diocese on Tuesday, October 13th. With the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian presiding, all Diocesan clergymen participated in the conference.

The topics of the agenda were especially drafted for the upcoming 90th anniversary of establishment of the Western Diocese with emphasis placed on the religious, pastoral, ethical, social and theological topics and missions. The Diocese was formally established in 1898 as one structure and later, in 1927, it was divided into three separate regions (Eastern United States, Western United States and Canada).
The 90th anniversary celebration will be geared toward reviving, strengthening and deepening the mission of the Christian lifestyle with special emphasis placed on the “Mission of Evangelization.”  With the proposal of the Diocesan Primate the clergy drafted the following agreement: under the theme “Toward the Light of Faith” – to further enhance and strengthen the mission of religious reawakening of the faithful.
A number of topics related to the pastoral and religious mission of the Church were discussed and analyzed. The topics were assigned to clergymen who will present them in great detail during the two-day long symposium on February 2-3, 2016.
The clergymen also discussed the significance of “The Church” in the life of the community. Means of ensuring its continuity and prosperity as well as its modernity were discussed.
