Happy Thanksgiving from Archbishop Khajag Barsamian

We give thanks and remember
You, who crown your saints and dispense eternal abundance, grant peace to your servants who have fallen asleep when you return in judgment. Be our guide in the field of your holy and benevolent will. And make us worthy to give you thanks and to glorify your name. Amen. This Thursday, as we remember the many blessings in our lives, let us also remember those who, a century ago, gave their lives in the name of our Lord. In Armenia the forget-me-not flower has been adopted as the symbol for our 100th year of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.

Today, we envision the endless sea of violet that would result from a million and a half such flowers festooning a vast field. What a reminder that would be of the magnitude of our loss. What a way to visualize an incomprehensible number, made up of countless individuals: each as distinct as a single flower. And almost as fragile.

We convey our blessings to you and your loved ones on this Thanksgiving day.
