French socialist delegation in Yerevan for the 100th anniversary of the death of Jean Jaurès

To mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Jean-Jaurès (1859-1914), a large delegation of MPs and activists of the Armenian cause in France, led by Bruno Le Roux (President of the Socialist group in French National Assembly), at the invitation of the ARF and CDCA, goes today to Yerevan.

The delegation will attend several ceremonies at the museum and the Memorial of the Armenian Genocide, as well as a conference at the French University of Yerevan having titled “Jean Jaurès and Armenians.” The tour continues with the opening of an exhibition of Jaurès and the Armenian cause.

Among the participants, Françoise Dumas, Luc Carvounas, Rene Rouquet, Pascal Popelin, Erwan Binet, Nathalie Nieson, Serge Franceschi, Mourad Papazian (ARF), Harout Mardirossian (CDCA), Alexis Govciyan (CCAF), Richard Ananian, Jirig Gharapetian, Dikran Tchertchian,  Vartan Kaprielian (Ayp FM)…
On 1897, Jaurès was the only one to raise his voice in the House of Representatives to denounce the massacre of Armenians. He will say: “Humanity can not live with, in his basement, the corpse of a murdered people.”
