10th Annual Diocesan Christmas Ball Less Than a Month Away!

The signs of the Holiday Season have already begun with Christmas trees and lights decorating the stores, Christmas carols being heard on Radio and Television and  the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America  planning its Tenth Annual Christmas Ball.  This traditional event will be held on Saturday, December 7, at the beautifully decorated Nazareth & Sima Kalaydjian Hall of the Arshag and Eleanor Dickranian Complex, 3325 North Glenoaks Boulevard, Burbank.  Festivities will begin at 7:00 pm. with a Reception and Gala Tree Lighting Ceremony and Toy Drive, followed by a welcoming dinner and exciting program at 8:00 p.m.

Raffi Kendirjan, Chair of the Christmas Ball Committee, states that this year during the Christmas Ball we will be celebrating the milestone of ten years of service of our Primate, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian.  “As we look back on the past ten years,” stated Kendirjian, “among the many accomplishments as Primate, His Eminence launched the Christian Education Department, ‘The Voice of the Armenian Church’ television program, the Agha Sarkissian  Library,  Baidzar Terpanjian Bookstore and Zorayan Museum; revitalized the Stewardship Program; and completed construction of St. Leon Armenian Cathedral of the Western Diocese.”

As in years past, the custom of recognizing young professional Armenian American leaders in the community will be the highlight of the evening.  This tradition was created by the Primate to honor and acknowledge young professional leaders in the legal, medical, educational, communication/media, political and philanthropic fields.  Honorees are not only selected for their achievements and success in their chosen endeavors, but for their contributions to both the Armenian and American communities.

The professionals to be honored this year are Lina Arslanian, Rostom Baghdassarian, Raffi R. Barsam, DMD, Sara Bedirian, JD, Alice Chakrian, Araksya Karapetyan, Gerard Kassabian, JD, LLM, Houry Khechoumian, Serineh V. Melidonian, MD, Harout Mesrobian, MD,  Raffi Tachdjian, MDS, MPH, Vartan Tachdjian, MD,  Mihran Tcholakian, and Jessica Vartoughian.

Booklet sponsorships are available in different categories to commemorate the event and to afford families and friends the opportunity to write a personal congratulatory message to the honorees and or to Archbishop Derderian.
