Feast of the Catholicon of Holy Etchmiadzin

On June 2, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the Feast of the Catholicon of Holy Etchmiadzin. In the Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Markos Hovhannisyan, Primate of the Diocese of Gegharkunik.

Reflecting on the significance of the feast, the celebrant Bishop said “Throughout centuries, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has witnessed numerous trials and tribulations. Despite the relocation of The Pontifical Throne, the vision of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin continued to remain in the historical site as the spiritual center of the Armenian people. Seventeen centuries have passed and the beacon of God’s divine light, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin remains strong as it calls out to Armenians worldwide.” Bishop Markos called upon the faithful to remain steadfast in their faith and Holy Etchmiadzin in their hearts.
Led by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisian, Director of the Publishing Department of the Mother See and president of the Pontifical Monastic Counsel, members of the Pontifical Monastic Council held Prayers of Pontifical Service (Hairabedagan Maghtank) for the prosperity of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
