Dear Reader
The following are the new books:
A third edition of the SHARAGANS (Hymnbook of the Armenian Church) translated into modern Armenian by His Eminence Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian. This revised edition, a large volume with 1014 pages, is sponsored by eight generous faithful donors of the Western Diocese, features corresponding facing pages of the classical and the modern Armenian with a new format. It contains the entire Sharagans (Hymns) of the Armenian Apostolic Church with the addition of a series of indexes. The opening words include His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian’s message entitled “In search of satisfying the needs of our souls”, followed by a brief historical introduction by Garo Bedrossian, and a theological survey by Rev. Dr. Zaven Arzoumanian. Two prominent scholars, Prof. Krikor Pidejian and Mihran Kurdoghlian have added their valuable comments. The new Sharagan Book will be presented by the Rev. Fr. Zaven Arzoumanian.
HIGH-RANKING ARMENIAN CHURCH LEADERS, Book II, by Rev. Fr. Zaven Arzoumanian, PhD, in Armenian, 265 pages, contains the legacy of 12 prominent churchmen, headed by Catholicos of All Armenians Kevork V Sourenian (1911-1930) , Khoren I Mouradbekian (1932-1938), and Bedros I Catholicos of the House of Cilicia (1940). A section featuring the Jubilees of His Holiness Karekin II, His Eminence Archbishop  Hovnan Derderian, and the author himself. Two articles explore the Nicene Creed and the Creed by St. Gregory of Datev. The last section covers 20 articles on the Armenian Church Canon Law, the Book of Narek, both Kevorkian (Etchmiadzin) and Armash (Constantibople) Seminaries, and other historical and religious studies. The Book will be presented by His Eminence Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian.
FEASTS OF THE ARMENIAN CHURCH AND NATIONAL TRADITIONS, by Garo Bedrossian. The volume is a translation into the Eastern Armenian for the use of our schools. Next to the original Western dialect, this new edition will serve equally to our students at large. This 300-page edition is based on the Holy Bible and the Armenian Church Calendar. The Saints and their commemorations traditionally have reached us through the “Lives of the Saints”, a source containing the Saints of the Christian Church, inclusive of the Armenian Church. The Church Calendar is carefully examined by the author to determine the Feasts, both Biblical and historical, for which the volume has been successfully comprehensive in its entirety. The book will be presented by Parsegh Kartalian.
