We are delighted to inform the Diocesan faithful that on November 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., His Excellency Bako Sahakyan, President of the Nagorno Karabagh Republic, and his delegation visited the Western Diocese in Burbank, California.
The President was accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Primate of the Diocese of Artsakh, His Excellency Grigor Hovhannissian, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles, His Excellency Mesrob Shaboyan, Deputy Consul General of the RA in Los Angeles, Mr. David Babayan, Head of the Central Information Department and member of Nagorno Karabagh Republic President’s Administration and Mr. Robert Avetisyan, Nagorno Karabagh Republic Representative to the United States of America, Mr. Norek Gasparyan, Mr. Ara Aghishian, Chairman of the Armenia Fund U.S. Western Region and Mr. Sarkis Kotanjian, Executive Director of Armenia Fund U.S. Western Region.
The Primate welcomed President Sahakyan and led him into the newly consecrated St. Leon Armenian Cathedral. In his message, the Primate welcomed the honorable guests and stated that the Western Diocese will always support the revitalizing efforts of Armenia and Artsakh.
A reception followed in the Armen and Gloria Hampar Room of the Diocesan Complex with the participation of His Eminence Archbishop Vatche Hovsepian, Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Dz. V. Yardemian, Vicar General, Rev. Archpriest Fr. Dr. Zaven Arzoumanian, Archpriest Fr. Sarkis Petoyan, Archpriest Frs. Shnork Demirjian, Hovsep Hagopian, Rev. Fr. Mampre Kesabyan, Joseph Kanimian Esq., Dr. Aramais Paronyan, Mr. Armen Hampar, Mr. Raffi Kendirjian, Mr. Sinan Sinanian, Dr. Raffi Balian, Dr. Arshak Kazanjian, Mr. Antranik Zorayan, Dr. Vahram Biricik, Mr. Berj Shahbazian and Dn. Harout Markarian, Executive Director of the Western Diocese.
His Eminence Archbishop Pargev Martirosian offered the blessing of the tables. Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian welcomed the President. He added that the faithful of the Diocesan Parishes have been called upon to participate in this year’s Telethon which would bring water to over 200 villages in Artsakh.
In his message, His Eminence Archbishop Pargev Martirosian reflected on the valuable service of His Eminence Archbishop Vatche Hovsepian to Armenia and Artsakh. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, for his continuing support for the children of Artsakh and many other organizations.
President Bako Sahakyan expressed his deep gratitude to the Primate for the warm reception and for calling upon the faithful to participate and extend a helping hand to their compatriots in Artsakh.
The distinguished guests parted the Western Diocese with uplifted spirits.
