Dear Reader
Maundy Thursday is certainly the most inspiring of all the days of the Holy Week. It is on this Holy day that Christ institutes the sacrament of the Divine Liturgy through the Last Supper. On this day, Christ humbles Himself by conveying to His disciples the most challenging lesson. The late Patriarch Kaloustian introduces a significant reflection based on the events of the day.
Christ concludes His prayer with the following words: “O! Just Father…the love which you have rendered through the incarnation, may be theirs.”
Christ’s words of farewell start with the message of love and are also concluded with a message of love. The entire day is the reflection of divine love. The washing of feet is certainly a vivid expression of the same divine love. The last supper constitutes a permanent bond of love. Christ’s love is for all mankind. However, those who put their faith in Christ will remain communicant to the mystery of Love.
