ARMENIAN PRESIDENT MEETS WITH GERMAN CHANCELLOR

Yerevan, November 16. ArmInfo. During their meeting in Berlin today Armenian President Robert Kocharyan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed a wide range of problems.

Armenian Public Television reports that the sides discussed the prospects for developing bilateral relations and agreed to promote Armenian-German business ties, particularly, in banking and insurance. Kocharyan and Merkel also expressed commitment to further develop the legislative basis of bilateral cooperation. Shortly the sides will sign an agreement on avoidance of double taxation.

Merkel said that during its chairmanship in the EU Germany will actively work in the framework of the New European Neighborhood program and will promote Armenia’s relations with the EU.

Kocharyan told Merkel about the current stage of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. The sides also discussed regional problems.-
