Yerevan, November 1. ArmInfo. A new safety fee – 2 EUR – has been introduced at Zvartnots Airport.
The press service of the Chief Department of Civil Aviation of Armenia reports that the fee will be charged from all passengers. Some air companies have already included the fee in their ticket prices. The receipts will be spent on enhancing the safety of passengers and planes. The fee is required by ICAO safety standards.
Starting from Nov 1 the airport will use dactylographic equipment. The new measures are aimed against terrorism. Jan 1 2007 rescue and fire detachments will start watching the airport round-the-clock.
Armenia joined ICAO in 1992 and was the first post-Soviet country to join ECAC.
