YEREVAN IS CELEBRATING ITS 2 788TH ANNIVERSARY

The celebrations of the «Day of Yerevan» started with the exhibition of the collection of the Yerevan History museum and the collection of photos «Yerevan with my eyes». The museum represented over 300 exhibits which give us information about the residents of Yerevan thousands of years ago.

Archeological digs in the most ancient city of the world showed that people lived here tens of thousands of years ago. According to scientists, the tools found near the Yerevan lake are about 10 000-40 000 years old.

Excavations in Shengavit showed that people lived there in the 4th-2nd millennia BC. One of the most interesting exhibits was the clay pots for making beer. “According to Greek historians, Armenians used to make beer in the 4th millennium BC”, said manager of the museum Armine Nazaryan. According to her, the museum has about 80 thousand exhibits which tell the history of the capital from ancient times until now.
