Yerevan, September 23. ArmInfo. The second stage of the Olympiad on Microelectronics will start in Armenia on September 26 at 12:00pm local time. The Olympiad is held in the country for the first time. SYNOPSYS company told ArmInfo the participants are students of different higher educational establishments of Armenia and experts in the sphere of microelectronics. Four competition topics will be presented at the second stage of the Olympiad: “Digital chip design and testing,” “Analogous and mixed alarm chip design and testing,” “Semi-conductor equipment and technologies, ” “Mathematical and algorithmic support of automatic design of chips.” Everyone under 30 can participate in the Olympiad. The winner of first category will get a notebook. Two winners of the second category will receive by 300,000 drams, and the three winners of the third category – by 150,000 drams. The goal of the Olympiad is to enhance development of microelectronics in Armenia, find new cadres as well as to reveal the level of their knowledge of the sphere to amend educational programs.
To note, the world leader of e-design of automated technologies, American Synopsys Inc. founded Synopsys-Armenia company in the October of 2004 on the basis of the Armenian-American companies Leda-Design and Monterey Arset. The company jointly with the Polytechnic Institute founded an Inter-department Faculty with 150 students.
