Iran-Armenia Gas Pipeline to Be Put into Operation till Yearend

Yerevan, 1st September 2006 – The Iran-Armenia gas pipeline will become operational by yearend, Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian said Wednesday at a meeting with Armenian Energy Minister Armen Movsisyan in Yerevan.

According to an agreement reached between the two sides, the 160-km gas pipeline will transfer some 36 billion cubic meter of Iran’s gas to Armenia within the next 20 years, reported Irna news agency.

To remind, the Armenian sector of the pipeline makes 71 km extending from Meghri to Kajaran. The pipeline will allow to import 2.8 billions of cubic meters of gas and is called to satisfy the inner needs of Armenia.
