ANKARA: Mutafyan welcomes restoration of church

Armenian Patriarch Mutafyan went to Van on Monday to visit the restored
Akdamar Church, which he described as a very important development.

He and architect Zakarya Mildanoglu were welcomed by Cahit Zeydanli,
who is the owner of the company that restored the church.

Speaking to journalists, Mutafyan said it was his third trip to Van. "I
had seen the Akdamar Church before. However, this is the first time I
will see it after its restoration. The restoration is a very important
development. I will talk about what I think about it after I see it."
