250 ARMENIANS GOING FROM BEIRUT TO SYRIA

Yerevan, July 20. ArmInfo. The Embassy of Armenia in Lebanon continues evacuating Armenian citizens and Armenians from that country.

The acting spokesman of the Armenian FM Vladimir Karapetyan says that 5 buses with 250 passengers are presently going from Beirut to the Syrian border to later go to Aleppo (Syria). Two embassy employees are accompanying them to help them to cross the border. Normally, the trip from Beirut to Aleppo by bus takes 6-7 hours, but presently, given big jams on roads and on the border, it will take much more time.

Karapetyan refutes the reports that Israeli troops have begun bombing the Christian quarter. He says that these rumors have followed the deliberate explosion of a truck on Wednesday.

70% of those who have left Lebanon with the support of the Embassy are Armenians. The Embassy helps only those who asks it for help.

50-60 people are waiting for departure. 160 people have already come to Yerevan.
