DIASPORA IGNORES ARMENIAN SCHOOLS ABROAD BUT COME TO ARMENIA TO STUDY

2960 Armenian young people from 32 countries study in Armenia from all over the world. 2174 of them go to state sponsored establishments, 448 study in private universities and 338 go to secondary professional colleges.

Hrach TADEVOSYAN, department head on relations with Diaspora at the ministry of education and science expressed his hope that the number of young people who would like to study in Armenia will grow. On the other hand, Hrach Tadevosyan noted that Armenian families do not take their children to Armenian schools abroad. “The number of children going to Armenian schools abroad goes down,” he says. According to him Armenia has sent 37 thousand textbooks on state budget funds to Armenian schools abroad.

Also, trainings of Diaspora Armenian teachers are regularly held in Armenia. Last year 61 teachers came for trainings to their motherland. This year only 24 have applied. Applications are accepted until July 15. /Panorama.am/
