Azerbaijanis take defense in Paris
Azerbaijan-French Youth Association (AFYA) published second issue of Korpu magazine. The president of AFYA, Mirvari Fataliyeva informed. According to her, for a long time because of financial difficulties they could not rehabilitate the magazine issue founded yet in 2004. Then the first issue of magazine published. All articles devoted to Azerbaijan and France were in two languages – Azerbaijani and French.
Fortunately, at present AFYA has chance to issue the magazine 4-fold a year. “One good person from Azerbaijan expressed his desire to assist us in this point in case of anonymity conditions. We have already published the second issue”, informed M. Fataliyeva.
AFYA was founded in 2003 and composed of nearly 30 members, among whom there are Azerbaijanis educating in France and their French friends. The main tasks of AFYA are to reinforce cultural ties between two countries, to agitate Azerbaijani culture and history in France, and vice-versa – French culture and history in Azerbaijan.
M. Fataliyeva graduated from Azerbaijan University of Languages, and then she left for France to study European countries. Equally with leadership in AFYA, she leads the Department for External Affairs of Azerbaijan-French Commerce Chamber.
Since the first days of stay in France M. Fataliyeva set forth an idea of establishment of the public organization that could serve for cultural bridge between two countries. So, AFYA was set up. Its activists are trying to bring to awareness of French society the problems of Azerbaijan, but they act very carefully, as the Charter of AFYA is considered to deal with cultural affairs.
“Of course, we have no rights to talk of policy, as it contradicts to our Charter, but to the extent of our opportunities naturally, we are trying to talk the French about the political aspects of problems, particularly Azerbaijan-Armenian conflict”, noted M. Fataliyeva.
At the same time, she is confirmed that it is better to start disseminating of general information about the country, its geographical situation, people, culture, history, and then to inform about problems when country is more or less is known. “When you start to talk about problems right away, it gives less results”, underlined M. Fataliyeva.
Talking of ties maintained with other public organizations of our compatriots in France, M. Fataliyeva informed that they maintain business relations with the Association of Azerbaijani Students of France (AASF) situated in Strasbourg.
AFYA head also noted that in France there are a lot of Armenian public organizations which are very influential. “A number of generations of Armenians live in this country. Armenians have settled down in France for a long time and have good positions. We just begin our activity, that’s why it is impossible to compare”. According to M. Fataliyeva, Armenian lie scale about Azerbaijan strikes imagination. That’s why our compatriots are obliged to make great efforts for change of prevalent stereotypes.
The public arrangements to which the French are invited play an important role for bringing to awareness of the French community the truth of Azerbaijan. One of the last arrangements was solemn arrangement in Paris dated for the 28 May Day of Republic. Children in national clothes, presenting fresh issue of Korpu magazine welcomed the guests.
According to AzerTaj, at the beginning of arrangement it was demonstrated the documentary film devoted to Azerbaijan in English prepared by Lider TV. Then the organizers and guests, including the lawyer Jean Kourto, who had written graduation thesis about ADR in 1948, an independent journalist Bertrand Rinuvien, who had especially emphasized the hospitality of Azerbaijani people and the marvelous nature of Azerbaijan, made speech.
Then the concert in which attended the student of Musical Faculty of Sorbonne University Saida Zulfugarova (vocal), the students educated in Germany – Kira Golubeva (piano), and Fuad Ibrahimov (violin) was held. The performance of Azerbaijani musicians, performing excerpts from musical compositions of Jovdat Hajiyev, Gara Garayev, Tofig Guliyev, Beethoven, Brahms, etc. was greeted with loud cheers.
