Armenia Anxious About Hindered Restart Of Railway Movement Via Breakaway Abkhazia

Tbilisi. March 22 (Prime-News) – The issue on restoration of the Georgian-Russian railway movement was discussed at the session of the Russian-Armenian inter-parliamentary commission in Moscow.

The Armenian party highlighted that intention of the Russian party to build a new railway rout to Iran via Azerbaijan, will reduce interest in the railway route in Abkhazia, Vaan Ovsanian, Vice Chairman of the Parliament of Armenia and Armenian co-chairman of the Russian-Armenian inter-parliamentary commission told journalists.

According to him, a quadrilateral consortium must be set up for the future operation of the railway bed in Abkhazia by the parties concerned. However, the Russian party has not appointed its representative in the working group yet, which hinders work of the consortium.

On the negotiation in Moscow the Russian party agreed to appoint its representative. Thus a session of the consortium will be held in Yerevan in the nearest future.
