Yerevan sees no threat in development of Russia-Azerbaijan military cooperation

Strengthening of Russia-Azerbaijan military cooperation is an internal affair of these two countries, said Armenian Chief of Staff, Colonel-General Mikael Arutyunyan, commenting on an agreement between the Russian and Azerbaijani presidents concerning cooperation in military sphere. He said that there is no threat in it, and that Armenia also positively cooperates with Russia.

As REGNUM already informed, after the negotiations in Baku President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement, where they ordered governments to develop legal base of cooperation in defense technology. The statement says that governments of the two countries must also develop a program of military cooperation that will not be aimed against any other countries and will not harm international liabilities of both countries.

Armenian Chief of Staff also noted that military cooperation between Armenia and Russia is developing under the plan on 2006. Also, cooperation between the two countries takes place in the framework of joint Russian-Armenian group of forces.
