GROUP OF EXPERTS MAKES RATING OF ARMENIAN INTERNET-RESOURCES

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22. ARMINFO. A group of experts led by Professor Vahanyan has made a rating of the internet-resources of Armenian commercial and non commercial organizations, including commercial banks.

The experts used Google and Yandex search systems to survey English- and Russian-speaking internet-resources as of early 2006.

The top ten among 41 mass media web-sites are: Spyur information service, PanArmenian news internet-portal, Armenia Now internet daily, Aravot, Yerkir, Iravunk, A1+ and Azg dailies, Armenia Information travel portal and ARMINFO news agency. 25 media have a rating less than 1,000.

As against 2005 Armenia Now rose from 9th to 3rd place, Aravot dropped from 1st to 4th place, Fourth Power daily plummeted from 6th to 18th place, ARMINFO rose from 21st to 10th place.

In Yandex the leaders are Spyur (375Y), Azg (325Y), PanArmenian news and ARMINFO (250Y each). 37 media have a rating less than 200.

For the first time the experts has made a rating of 75 Armenian commercial organizations, with most of them being the country’s biggest tax payers. The survey has shown a direct link between the companies’ economic achievements and their progress in intellectual capital management and non-material asset building. 22 of the 37 companies having a rating of more than 100G are among the biggest tax payers of Armenia.

The top ten in Google are: the biggest internet provider Arminco, ARMINFO news agency, Zigzag company, Virage Logic, ArmenTel telecom operator, Aviatrans air and hotel operator, Kotayk brewery, Armen Tour Travel, Akcern real estate agency, Ashtarak Kat dairy company. Having 1,000G are only 3 of 75 organizations, which prooves that there is low demand for company data from Armenia.

The top ten in Yandex are: ARMINFO, Arminco, Akcern, ArmenTel, Golden Tulip Yerevan Hotel, AirPost, Sil Concern, Aviatrans, Ashtarak-Kat, Yerevan Brandy Company. Only 3 companies have more than 200Y.

In the top ten in both Google and Yandex are Arminco, ARMINCO, Akcern, Ashtarak-Kat, ArmenTel, Aviatrans.

The experts conclude that the Armenian commercial organizations do not use the IT capacities in full. They note that today the success and development of commercial and non commercial organizations in competitive environment is getting increasingly dependent on their intellectual capital. Labor and capital are not enough for a present-day company to make profit in the globalizing world – this requires a whole system of production and consumption. Ideas, knowledge and information, especially internet-resources, are an integral part of that system. Internet-resources are an intellectual product. They can be both material assets (creation and refreshment expenses) and non-material assets – market cost, which is a faction to calculate a product’s quality and the demand for its creation, development and refreshment.
