«WE EXPECTED TOO MUCH FROM RAMBUE»

«The negotiations about the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict must continue. As for the Paris meeting, we just expected too much from them», the CE representative to Southern Caucasus, Ambassador Heikki Talvitie announced in Yerevan. He is finishing his mission in this position and has come to the region to say goodbye.

He announced that the co-chairs and the Foreign Ministers will continue the negotiations, and «CE is ready to support them». Heikki Talvitie announced that the key to the settlement is in the hands of the sides. «The international community cannot exercise pressure upon the sides. They must come to an agreement, and the CE is ready to participate in the settlement of the conflict after an agreement is reached», Talvitie said.

P.S. Heikki Talvitie was appointed in his present position on July 7, 2003. In January 2006 he left office. In February the Political and Security Council of the CE approved the candidacy of the Swedish diplomat Peter Semneby for the post.
