ARMENIA DENIES AZERI ALLEGATION THAT KOCHARIAN BROKE OFF PARIS TALKS

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 14, ARMENPRESS: Armenia has denied today allegations by an Azerbaijani official who alleged that president Robert Kocharian had broken off negotiations with his Azeri counterpart in French Rambouillet on February 11.

“In fact Armenian president suggested in Rambouillet that the talks (over the settlement of the Karabakh conflict) be summed up after it became clear that it was impossible to reach agreement. President Kocharian values his time and believes that imitation of talks is not serious,” a spokesman for Kocharian, Viktor Soghomonian told Armenpress when asked to comment on an announcement by Novruz Mamedov, a senior official in Azerbaijani president’s administration, that Kocharian had suspended talks unexpectedly citing insignificant reasons.

“I would not like to judge about the true intentions behind Mr. Mamedov’s allegations, but nevertheless his allegations show that he is a poorly-educated medium-level official, who allows himself to interpret the actions of the president of another country,’ Soghomonian said.
