ALEXANDRIA LIBRARY HOST ARMENIAN EXHIBITION

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS: An exhibition of facsimile and hand-printed copies of medieval Armenian manuscripts and miniatures from the Matenadaran Institute of Manuscripts in Yerevan opened on February 5 in one of the biggest halls of Alexandria Library in Egypt.

Dedicated to the 1600-th anniversary of invention of Armenian alphabet the exhibition was officially opened by Taher Khalifa, the executive director of the Library and Armenia’s ambassador to Egypt, Ruben Karapetian. On the same day Sen Arevshatian, Matenadaran director and Taher Khalifa signed a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.

On February 9 the Auditorium hall of the Library hosted a conference of Armenian and Egyptian researches on the topic of Armenian-Egyptian Historical and Cultural Contacts. As a first sign of cooperation Matenadaran presented 11 facsimile copies of manuscripts and miniature to the Library. The exhibition will be on display up to February 25.
