DELHI, JANUARY 2, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. A conference titled "Armenian Day" was organized in the St.Ephrem Ecuminical Scientifico-Research Institute in Kottayam city of the Kerala State, India, where nearly 150 university students and clergymen from several countries took part in it. As Noyan Tapan was informed from the RA Foreign Minister's Press and Information Department, the conference was initiated by Andrea Shmidt, professor of the St. Ephrem Ecumenical Scientifico-Research Institute and Catholic University of the Belgium's Luven city, on whose initiative and immediate participations courses of Armenian language and scientific researches are conducted. Professor Andrea Shmidt presented the sources of the Armenian-Indian relations. Professor Abdo Badvin, head of the St. Art school of the Lebanese Kaslik city touched upon the Armenian miniature painting. Doctor Jan-Paul Deshler from the Catholico Yunio University spoke on the subject of "Armenian Miniatures and Byzantine Icons". The speakers attached importance to the old languages, particularly the teaching of the Armenian language. Professor Thomas, head of the school of the international relations of the Andrea Shmidt and Mahatma Gandi University, who personally attends the courses of the Armenian language, suggested to include the subject of the Caucasus' researches into the program of the school's international relations. Today 12 lecturers of the institute attend the courses of the Armenian language. Ashot Kocharian, the RA Ambassador to India sent a message to the participants of the conference.
