BAKU, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS: Azeri newspapers quoted the coach of the Azerbaijani national football team, Sahin Diniyev, as saying that he had negotiations with officials from the Armenian Football Federation in Switzerland on the venue of Euro 2008 qualifiers.
“We have had preliminary talks, but have not made a final decision yet. There are two factors to bear in mind. First, both matches should be played in a third country. Second, if we are to play at home, both countries must give full security guarantees,” Diniyev said. The draw in the Swiss town of Montreux put Azerbaijan and Armenia in Group A of Euro 2008 qualifiers.
Meantime Kavkaspress quoted officials from the Georgian Football Federation as saying that Georgia was ready to host both games. Gogi Kavtaradze, deputy president of the Federation said they will send official invitations to both teams.
