ARMENIA RECEIVING 375,000 CUBIC METERS OF GAS FROM RUSSIA EVERY HOUR

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31. ARMINFO. At the moment Armenia is receiving 375,000 cubic meters of natural gas from Russia every hour, which fully corresponds to the norms, Press Secretary of ArmRosgazprom CJSC Shushan Sardaryan told ARMINFO.

She said in the second half of the day, Hrazdan TPP will be supplied with the Russian gas as well. Due to it, Armenia will restore export of electricity to Georgia. S. Sargdaryan said the United Energy Distribution Company of Georgia is the client of Armenian electricity. In January ArmRosgazprom supplied about 200,000 kW/h electricity to Georgia daily.

To note, gas supply to the country was suspended on 22 January due to explosion of Mozdok-Tbilisi gas main. Within the period till Monday, Armenian consumers were supplied with the gas stored in the Abovyan underground gas-holder. Press Secretary Sardaryan said the incident once more proved the necessary for enlargement of the gas-holder. Designed for 150 mln cubic meters of gas, the gas-holder, factually, stores only 90 mln cubic meters of gas. Under the program on development of Abovyan gas-holder, the government is negotiating with international financial institutions for a preferential credit. The program is estimated at 25-30 mln USD. It is expected to start already in the current year.
