BRITISH AIRWAYS JETS IN SOUNDS OF SCOTLAND TO SUPPORT ARMENIAN BURNS NIGHT CELEBRATIONS

YEREVAN, JANUARY 27, ARMENPRESS: British Airways’ franchise partner, BMED, that operates non-stop daily flights between London and Yerevan is flying in a Scottish piper for the eighth annual Burns Night Supper being held at the Marriott Hotel in Yerevan on Sunday, January 29.

The airline is also donating two return tickets to London for the evening’s charity raffle, which is hoped to raise $20,000 for medical equipment for various children’s hospitals in Armenia. Simon Avagyan, BMED’s sales manager for Armenia said: “With non-stop daily flights between Yerevan and the British capital and good onward connections, Scotland is closer than you think. We are very pleased to support this event, which will provide much needed funds for local children’s hospitals.”

During the evening guests will be offered Haggis, a special Scottish dish, as well as dancing to the bagpipes of the Scottish piper and making whisky toasts to the “immortal memory” of Burns, as his poetry is recited. The British Ambassador, H.E. Antony Cantor and the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Richard Hyde formally greeted the piper and accepted the Haggis at the Yerevan Airport upon arrival on Friday January 27.
