KOCHARIAN MEETS EU AMBASSADORS, BRIEFS ON KARABAKH DEAL DEVELOPMENTS

YEREVAN, JANUARY 13, ARMENPRESS: Armenian president Robert Kocharian said today his country’s cooperation with the European Union on the whole and its separate members was effective. During a meeting with ambassadors of the EU member countries and the resident representative of the European Commission Kocharian said the start of negotiations between Armenia and the EU within the frameworks of the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) program was a landmark in Armenia’s relations with the EU.

He expressed hope that these talks would end in near future. “The package of Armenian proposals shows that we are intending for a serious work and expect effective mutual activity,’ he was quoted by his press office as saying. The main focus of the conversation with diplomats was on the present phase of the Karabakh conflict resolution. Kocharian briefed the ambassadors on the latest developments, saying there were prerequisites that could register a breakthrough in the negotiations process.

Kocharian also provided explanations in respect to a set of other questions, particularly, on Armenia’s relations with neighboring countries.
