ARMENIA TRIES TO PASS IN ITS RELATIONS WITH THE USA FROM THE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MUTUALLY ADVANTAGEOUS PROJECTS


YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. Armenia tries to pass in its relations with the USA from the assistance programs to the implementation of mutually advantageous projects, according to the report of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 2005.

“It’s expected that the inflow of the American capital to Armenia will increase under the conditions of further improvement of the investment conditions in Armenia, as well as the participation of the American companies in the economy of Armenia will activate”, the report says.

The document emphasizes that important issues for Armenia are signing an agreement on avoiding dual taxation and enlargement of the list of Armenian goods exported to the USA that are included in the Generalized System of Preferences.

The report says that the Armenian-American economic relations in 2005 kept developing.

“An important achievement in the Armenian-American relations in 2005 may be considered approval of the program submitted by Armenia and assigning financial aid in the amount of $235,65 mln. for its implementation by the Board of the Millennium Challenges Corporation”, the document says.

The implementation of the program will allow developing the infrastructure if the rural regions of Armenia, which in its turn will contribute to the reduction of poverty in the village.

The report says that in 2006 high level of the American aid to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh is preserved, making $75 mln. and $3 mln. respectively.

In its turn Armenia rendered to the USA aid in the amount of $ 200 thsd for the victims of the hurricane “Katrina”.

The report mentions the grant in the amount of $60 mln assigned to Armenia in 2005 by Lincy American Fund. A.H.-0-
