No bird flu infected bird came from Armenia to Turkey

There have not been registered any bird flu infection cases in Armenia, said to a REGNUM correspondent Deputy Agricultural Minister of Armenia Levon Rukhkyan. He dismissed the information of the Turkish Agricultural Ministry, that bird flu has been brought to one of the Turkish boundary regions by migrant birds from the Armenian territory.

According to Rukhkyan, Armenia introduced all measures of bird flu prevention. A coordinating headquarters have been established that collects all information from the regions, foreign embassies and international organizations.

Earlier, the Turkish Agricultural Ministry stated that bird flu has been brought to Turkey by migrant birds from the Armenian territory. Town of Igdir (Turkey) is quarantined. The authorities reported the killing of 359 birds as a prophylactic measure. The virus was identified as H5, but experts conduct research to clarify, if it is not deadly H5N1 culture, that killed nearly 70 people in Asia in 2003 and lead to death of millions of birds.
