Armenia-EU Troika Meeting Held in Brussels

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenia-EU Troika meeting was held in Brussels today, reported the Armenian MFA. The Armenian delegation was led by FM Vartan Oskanian. The European delegation was led by EU Secretary General, Honorary Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security Javier Solana. European Commission Deputy Director for Foreign Relations, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie, as well as UK Special Representative for South Caucasus Brian Fall were present at the meeting. Expressing content with EU-Armenia relations, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral relations within the European Neighborhood Policy. The parties emphasized the working out of EU-Armenia Action Plan. Particularly the interlocutors said they were ready to complete the working out of the program in the first decade of 2006.

Besides, the parties discussed matters of the referendum on reforms to the Constitution of Armenia. The need for further steps to provide for transparency of electoral processes in Armenia was mentioned. Settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict was one of the topics discussed. V.Oskanian presented latest developments in the issue. Energy issues in Armenia, specifically the Armenian NPP, were discussed. Economic, political and regional issues were discussed at the meeting. The participants exchanged views over Armenian-Turkish relations.

Today J. Solana had a working meeting with Armenian, Georgian and Azeri FMs. During the meeting settlement of regional conflicts was discussed.
