RUSSIA PLEDGES TO HELP BUILD SPACE MONITORING CENTER IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS: Russian Senate chairman Sergey Mironov said today his country will help establish in Armenia a space monitoring center, which he said will be studying atmospheric changes to predict natural calamities, forest fires, landslides.
He said the space monitoring center will also be significant in terms of agriculture development and nature protection. Mironov said Armenian and Russian emergency ministers and Russian space agency were assigned to develop proposals for the creation of the center. He said some $300,000-$500,000 will be required to build and equip the center.
