RUSSIAN AND ARMENIAN RESEARCHES TO SIGN COOPERATION MEMORANDUM

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS: Nikolay Platen, the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, vowed today to continue cooperation with Armenian counterparts, saying the Russian scientists and researchers were eager to embrace new areas of joint researches with Armenians.
Speaking at the premises of the Armenian Academy of Sciences, Platen, who has arrived here together with an extensive delegation accompanying Russian prime minister Fradkov, said tomorrow the two Academies will sign a cooperation memorandum. He said now Armenian and Russian researches were considering 65 concrete joint research programs encompassing many areas.
Platen said lack of funds was the main reason blocking ‘excellent’ cooperation between the two Academies. He said his meeting with Armenian prime minister Andranik Margarian, who pledged assistance to development of Russian-Armenian scientific ties, made him optimistic.
