YEAR OF ARMENIA IN RUSSIA TO GIVE RUSSIANS IDEA OF PRESENT-DAY ARMENIA: ARMEN SMBATYAN

YEREVAN, November 30. /ARKA/. The Year of Armenia in Russia, which is to be held in 2006, is supposed to give Russians an idea of present-day Armenia and of the country’s achievements, RA Ambassador to Russia Armen Smbatyan stated in his interview to the RIA “Novosty” News Agency. He reported that the program includes numerous concerts, business forums, conferences and meetings. The Ambassador pointed out that it will afforest opportunities for contacts between scientists, workers of culture, businessmen and young people. “I hope that all the arrangements – and about 200 of them are planned – will be organized at a very high level. I am sure that the Year of Armenia in Russia will be sincerely supported by the two countries’citizens,”Smbatyan said.
Smbatyan also stressed that the best evidence of development of the Armenian-Russian relations is the organization of a Year of Russia in Armenia in 2005. He pointed out that this action is nearing completion, and it was inaugurated “by the Presidents of our states during Vladimir Putin’s working visit to Armenia.” “Naturally, both the sides have sought to implement a program that would allow Armenian citizens to form a full idea of present-day Russia,” Sambatyan said. Days of Russian cities and regions, visits of Russian Governors, workers of culture and businessmen to Armenia were organized during the Year of Russia in Armenia.
