YEREVAN BRANDY COMPANY LEADER IN GRAPE PROCUREMENT IN 2005

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24. ARMINFO. 95,600 tons of grapes have been procured in Armenia this year against 79,500 tons in 2004, says the head of the agricultural development department of Armenia’s agriculture ministry Garnik Petrossyan.

Over 30 wine and brandy companies bought white technical grapes for 142-150 AMD/1 kg and red grapes for 220-250 AMD/1 kg. The leaders are Yerevan Brandy Company 23,580 tons, Yerevan Brandy Wine Vodka Factory Ararat 12,000 tons and MAP 6,150 tons. Qaghtsrashen Wine Factory bought 8,180 tons, Shahumyan Wine Factory 4,940 tons, Artashat Wine Factory 5,003 tons, AKZ 4,900 tons, Avshar Wine Factory 3,607 tons, Vedi Alco 3,600 tons, Great Valley 3,235 tons. Ararat Wine Factory bought only 738 tons, Yerevan Champagne Factory 638 tons, Ijevan Wine Factory 542 tons.

This year’s grape harvest totalled 170,000 tons – 22,000 tons more than in 2004.
