BAKU DISPLEASED WITH SCHWARZENEGGER

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 22. ARMINFO. Baku is displeased with the governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and may even complain of him to President Bush, reports Echo newspaper.

The cause is the plan to make Montebello, CA, the twin of “the Armenian town of Stepanakert.” “This may break the fragile balance in the Azeri-Armenian peace talks,” Azeri Ambassador to the US Hafiz Pashaev says in his message to Schwarzenegger.

“You should know that Stepanakert is the administrative center of the Nagorno Karabakh separatists wherefrom they have expelled all the residents of non Armenian nationality,” says Pashaev.

In response the Californian government referred Pashaev to the mayor of Montebello Bill Molinari who said that “Montebello will continue friendly relations with Stepanakert.”

The information policy and press executive of the Azeri FM Tair Tagizade says that they are actively working in this direction. He sees the influence of the Armenian Diaspora in the actions of the Montebello and California authorities.
