Supreme Spiritual Council Finishes Work in Etchmiadzin

The meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council convened under the high chairing of Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians finished its works at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on November 5.

According to the information submitted to the Diocesan Press Office by the Information Service of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, national-church, ritual-cult, mission and other problems were discussed at the meeting. Touching upon the church-state relations, the Supreme Spiritual Council mentioned necessity of works to be held in the direction of regulating legislative and other types of issues.

The Council accepted with satisfaction the report about works done in the direction of involving the Armenian communities of France in one diocese implemented within the framework of reorganization works of dioceses. The legal status issue of the Virahayots diocese became a subject of a new anxiety at the meeting. It was decided to continue negotiations with the authorities of Georgia and the Georgian Orthodox Church for giving an effective course of solution to the process of establishing a proper status for the Virahayots diocese.

The meeting participants touched upon issues connected with the participation of the All Armenian Patriarchate in the General Assembly of the World Churches Council to be organized in Brazilin 2006.

At the end of the meeting, members of the Supreme Spiritual Council addressed their congratulations and good wishes to His Holiness on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of his election and enthronement.
