PanARMENIAN.Net In the 8th round of the team World Chess Championship held in Beer Sheva, Armenian team beat the championship leader, China male team, 2.5:1.5. It was the first defeat of the latter team. Thus, our team did not lose the third position and gave a chance to the Russian team to compete for the gold with the Chinese.
The Ukrainian team beat the hosting team – Israel – with the same score 2.5:1.5. Russia and China (female) 3:1. The US and Cuba drew 2:2.
To win the gold Russia has to defeat the Chinese team with a maximal score 4:0 or 3.5:0.5. Armenia will compete with the Cuban team. Our chess players should not relax not to lose the third place that Ukraine and the US also work for. These teams will meet with Georgian and Israeli chess players respectively.
