1600th Anniversary of Armenian Letters Creation Celebrated in Pyatigorsk

Yerevan, November 9, /PanArmenian.Net/ A festivity dedicated to the 1600th anniversary of the creation of the Armenian written language was organized in the Russian town of Pyatigorsk, Erkramas, the newspaper of Armenians of Russia reported.

The events started with a liturgy chanted in the Armenian Church of the town. Then a meeting was held in near the bas-relief with the images of St. Mesrop Mashtots and Catholicos Sahak, who created the Armenian letters in 310 A.D.

Besides the heads of the Armenian organizations of the Stavropol region, leaders of Dagestani, Bulgarian, German, Greek and Jewish communities attended the event, which was completed with a concert of Armenian amateur troupes of the Stavropol region.
