YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS: I congratulate all of us on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Parliament. Fifteen years ago through the democratic elections was formed the Supreme Council, which fulfilled its historical mission by declaring Armenia’s independence. Independence has become the symbol of our statehood.
In a new geopolitical situation the Parliament of Armenia was called upon to lay the foundations of the new legislation, which would be appropriate for an independent and sovereign state. The Parliament became one of the most important links for the transition from the former Soviet system to a new one. The legal field for the implementation of the most fundamental reforms was set.
During the last years our Parliament has played its role in preserving stability and civil rest in the country. It has become the main venue for conducting a political dialogue. Our Parliament was able to successfully face the challenges of the time. And today in cooperation with the other branches of power it works to address the issues which concern our society.
I once again congratulate all of us on this jubilee and wish the National Assembly of Armenia productive work in the name of prosperity for our country and better life for our people.
