ARMENIAN PRESIDENT TO FLY TO BELGIUM ON OCTOBER 19 FOR THREE-DAY VISIT

YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. Armenian President Robert Kocharyan is to fly to Belgium on October 19 for a three-day visit. According to presidential press service, the head of state is set to meet Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, Senate Chair Ann-Mary Lizin and Parliament Chairman Herman De Crour as part of his visit.

Kocharyan also plans to meet European Commission Chairman Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, EU Policy Chief Javier Solana, European Parliament Co-Chair Josep Borell and European Commission Energy Commissar Andris Pibalgs. Meeting with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer is planned as well.

Kocharyan and Ann-Mary Lizin will tour the 1915 Armenian Genocide Victims Memorial to pay floral tribute to them. President Kocharyan is also to take part in the ceremony of Armenian Embassy opening in Belgium and to visit Made in Belgium exhibition.

During his visit, Kocharyan will be accompanied by Armenian Parliament Vice-Speaker Tigran Torosyan, Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanysn, Trade Minister Karen Chshmarityan and Armenian Ambassador to Belgium Vigen Chitechyan.
According to National Statistical Service of Armenia, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Belgium made $194664.6 thousand in Jan-Aug 2005 (export – $85208.7 thousand and import – $109455.9thnd) against $154809.6 thousand at the same period a year earlier rising by $39855 thousand. ($1 – AMD 445.67 ).
