NEWS FROM MARSEILLE

YEREVAN, JULY 6, ARMENPRESS: An Armenian “Cilicia” sailing-vessel replicated from medieval vessels of the Cilician Armenian kingdom weighted anchors in French port of Marseille on July 3 and was welcomed by Armenian ambassador to France, Edward Nalbandian, Marseille mayor, members of the local senate and parliament, and Armenians.

Ambassador Nalbandian said Marseille has always been a friendly destination for Armenians. The vessel will continue its voyage today. In another news from France, Armenian foreign ministry said representatives from around 50 Armenian organizations in Marseille area gathered together on July 2 to discuss preparations for Armenian Year in France that will start officially next year.

Ambassador Nalbandian addressed the gathering and spoke about the main direction of an extensive set of events. The ministry said discussions brought forward many proposals, remarks and suggestions about how to better organize the events. It said these proposals will be conveyed to an Armenian government commission set up to steer the event.
