YEREVAN AUTHORITIES WARN AGAINST SOFT DRINKS SOLD ON STREETS

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, ARMENPRESS: Yerevan municipality authorities have warned population today against using soft drinks prepared and sold on streets, saying they contain toxic germs hazardous to public health. Armen Soghoyan, head of a municipality health department, told a news conference the warning was supported by findings of a study conducted by a health ministry inspection. He called on Yerevan inhabitants to refrain from consuming food and drinks made by street vendors.

Deputy Yerevan mayor, Arman Sahakian, said the Yerevan municipality, district communities, police and health officials were considering a package of measures aimed to slash street sale of food and drinks. He said the municipality would demolish all illegally operating food kiosks. Sahakian also said eight liquefied gas selling stations, which the municipality found were working without proper permission, were warned to stop their operation. Last year the authorities dismantled 43 illegally working liquefied gas stations
