IRANIAN EMBASSY REACTS TO ARMENIAN PRESS REPORTS

YEREVAN, JUNE 7, ARMENPRESS: In response to reports in some Armenian newspapers that Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Ali Reza Haghighyan has asked Iranian parents to refrain from sending their children to Armenian universities, the Embassy of Iran in Armenia said today in a statement that development and strengthening of diverse Armenian-Iranian relations are in the limelight of both governments’ constant attention.

The statement said bilateral relations are a key component of cooperation in education area, which is a constant subject of official bilateral negotiations. As evidence the embassy cited frequent reciprocal visits, talks and meetings, signing of cooperation agreements, development of a relevant legislation, a memorandum that recognizes the validity of university diplomas of both countries, saying all this has brought about favorable conditions for attracting Iranian students into Armenian universities.

“Officials of the Armenian education and science ministry and the Iranian embassy in Armenia are making every effort so that Iranian students continue their education in Armenia in comfortable conditions,” the statement said.
