AZERI OFFICIALS FORCE ARMENIANS TO LEAVE: US STATE DEPARTMENT

YEREVAN, MARCH 1. ARMINFO-TURAN: Azeri officials are forcing Armenians to leave Azerbaijan, says US State Department in its Monday report on the human rights situation in the world.

There are almost 20,000 Armenians in Azerbaijan – mostly from mixed families. Local officials often ask bribes for giving them citizenship. As a result 200-250 such families leave the country every year.
