After long expectations Lusine Tovmasyan, Miss Armenia 2003, will take part in the Miss Europe 2005 competition; she has gained the right because no beauty competition has been organized in Armenia after 2003 and Lusine still holds the title.

The participation in the competition is of special significance to Lusine, who lost her only opportunity to participate in the Shanghai Miss World 2003 competition.

Then the president of the Miss Armenia agency and the former Deputy Minister of Culture and Youth Issues Karen Aristakesyan stated that he had asked nearly 30 businesspeople for sponsorship but nobody has wished to give the necessary $12,000 for her participation in the Miss World competition.

Her disappointment aside, Lusine still cherishes the wish to win the Miss Europe 2005 title.

“When I learned at the last moment I was not going to Shanghai I was very much upset. Now I am confident I will not return empty handed”, says Lusine.

On March 12 the holder of the Miss Armenia 2003 title will be in Paris to compete against beauties from 40 countries. Aristakesyan says he will give information about the expenses and the sponsors after the competition. The fee for participation is $500 and all other expenses are estimated at $5,000.

“I already have 6 gowns, some are from the fashion salon ‘Zatik’, two are French made, and one is an Armenian ethnic costume, which is compulsory dress”, says Lusine.

On February 13 Luisne leave for Paris for a month of preparation and rehearsals for the pageant.

“I am so excited. My mother and my sister help me a lot here, they encourage me; I will be alone there. I hope I will be able to overcome the difficulties”, says Lusine. “I leave with great expectations. I dream to appear in the first five and will get good contracts.”
