TURKISH HISTORIANS REPEATEDLY FAIL TO FIND DOCUMENTS CONFIRMING ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20. ARMINFO. Despite the position of the international community Turkish historians persists in forging historical facts.

Director of Institute of History of Turkey, Professor Yusuf Galacoglu has again failed to find in the Turkish archives any document confirming Turkey’s complicity in the Armenian Genocide. Instead he promises to name 519,000 Turks who were massacred by Armenians” and to tell “how it was done.”

Milliyet reports that Galacoglu proposes that historians from Turkey, Armenia, UK, France, Austria, Germany, RUssia and the US set up a special commission to consider the issue. This require disclosing the secret archives of Russia, England, France and Armenia where Galacoglu hopes to find proofs of “Turkish massacres by Armenians.”

To remind, in Dec 2003 Vienna University proposed holding an Armenian-Turkish discussion of the Armenian Genocide. July 16 Armenian and Turkish historians met in Vienna. Galacoglu provided his Armenian colleagues with 100 documents disproving the fact of the Armenian Genocide receiving in exchange 100 proofs of the fact. The sides are to examine the documents by the end of this year to present their findings during a meeting in 2005.
