PIANO CONCERTS OF DAVID PHILLIPS IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1. ARMINFO. The U.S. Embassy in Armenia presents David Phillips, a concert pianist from New York. Mr. Phillips will perform J.S. Bach’s “Goldberg” Variations in a solo concert on December 2, 2004, at 19:00, in Komitas Chamber Music Hall. David Phillips will also perform as a soloist with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra on December 3, 2004, at 19:00, in Aram Khachatryan Music Hall.

David Phillips is a professional concert pianist who regularly performs and teaches in New York City. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan and graduate work at New York’s Juilliard School. He has been associated with the Four Seasons Concerts in Berkeley, California for several years and has attended the Yachats International Music Festival for three years, including performances with soprano Lorice French at the Scottish Rites Center in Oakland, California. His solo and chamber appearances include: the San Antonio Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, Vienna Philharmonic, Hampton University Symphonic Winds, University of Illinois Wind Quartet, U.S. tours with Baritone William Warfield, and the Rabi-Warner Concert series at Columbia University. In addition to a performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations in March 2004 and a solo in the Dosch Recital Series in April 2004, David will be appearing in the Trinity Concert Series at St. Paul’s Chapel on February 7, 2005 and the Douglaston Concert Series on April 4, 2005 — all in his home base of New York City. After a solo recital in September 2004 in Tuxedo Park, New York, David made an appearance with the Key West Pops Orchestra on November 20, 2004. In the 2005-2006 season, the talented pianist will perform the Schumann Piano Concerto with the Sacramento Philharmonic and as a soloist with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra in Yerevan, Armenia. His talents will also be featured at various embassies in the United States and abroad. Other concert engagements include recitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Madison, Wisconsin; San Francisco and San Jose, California; the Cabral Salon Series in Los Angeles; and concerts in the U.K., Europe, Canada, Asia and South America. He also will be participating in the Concert Artists Guild International competition in New York City in the fall. David is represented internationally by B&N Management. His new CD of J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations will be released in winter 2004.
