HUNGARIAN COURT TO PASS UNBIASED VERDICT ON RAMIL SAFAROV CASE

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 15. ARMINFO. The Hungarian court will pass an unbiased verdict on the case of Azeri officer Ramil Safarov killing his Armenian couterpart Gurgen Margaryan, says Hungary’s deputy ombudsman Albert Takacs in response to Armenia’s ombudsman Larisa Alaverdyan’s inquiry.

Takacs says that according to act LIX 1993 the Hungarian ombudsman has no right to interfere in a court trial. The Safarov trial is controlled by the parliamentary human rights commissioner Barnabas Lenkovic.

In her letter to Lenkovic Alaverdyan says that the lawyers of Margaryan’s legal successor has not been timely notified that the trial is starting Nov 23 which has been taken negatively by the Armenian public. Alaverdyan is asking Lenkovic to react to the situation and to take necessary measures to ensure the trial’s complicity with the international and Hungarian laws.
